The London List Abroad: The Paramount House Hotel mixes plush luxury with minimalist style in an iconic local buildingThe London List

Part of a redevelopment of Sydney’s iconic Paramount House, a new 29-room boutique hotel has opened in the upper floors of the heritage-listed building. Formerly the Australian HQ of Paramount Pictures, the building has undergone a nine-year restoration, with the hotel itself taking four-years to complete, connecting to the derelict building next door with a stylish herringbone facade. Inside, the hotel is decked out with sleek, minimalist furniture, with pastel tones, plush velvet finishes and wood and natural accessories adding warmth to the rooms. The bathrooms are terrazzo-tiled, with Japanese-style wood baths in some of the rooms, and gold fittings adding extra style.

Guests can benefit from a co-working space, Paramount Coffee Project, and restored 56-seat cinema also in the building, while in the lobby, original film vaults have been retained as service ducts.
