Stemming from initial thoughts to implement art deco circular motifs in the Prahran Hotel expansion, director of Techne Architects and project architect Justin Northrop’s design incorporates 17 huge concrete pipes as the idea moved from simply a graphic consideration to a structural and programmatic solution. Much more than a facade, the pipes are used for dining and drinking areas as part of the bar extension, with each booth seating up to 12 guests.
